Give a Gift
It’s official—Rug Hooking magazine is now We Like Rug Hooking, a digital hub for all things related to the art of hand-hooked rugs. To those subscribers coming over from RHM, have no fear: the magazine you know and love will continue to exist, now as both a collection of online articles and a premium, printable PDF. It’s a big change, especially for longtime subscribers who can recall the early days of RHM. Yet as with rug hooking itself and many other things in life, it is important to embrace new ideas and ways of being. This is still the same community with the same shared interest—and a magazine that will look comfortingly familiar. If you’re new to the We Like Rug Hooking digital space, I encourage you to poke around, experiment with viewing this issue on different devices to find your best fit, comment on articles online to start conversations about what you read, and have fun exploring past content and printing out patterns you’d like to hook or punch.
On the topic of expanding into new spaces, Susan Feller writes in this issue about her experience with curating a traveling rug show. She is a big proponent of rug hookers sharing their art beyond this community and encourages boldness in self-promotion. Perhaps this summer will offer you time to reflect on places in your local community (or beyond) where you can display your work, or a collection of works by your guild. Stepping into unfamiliar territory can be uncomfortable, but it is an excellent way to grow as an artist. I urge you to give Susan’s article a read if you want to feel emboldened.
Another highlight of this issue is a preview of Celebration 36, which will be published here on We Like Rug Hooking on September 1.
