I love working with beads and crystals. This dress told me it wanted them. The boots are my favorite part of this piece, although they were a big challenge. Diane Stoffel is a great teacher who helped me work through my struggles with the boots. I finished the dress and boots by sewing a piece of wool directly onto the back of each section. I didn’t want my finishing technique to show.
From the Judges:
This retro-inspired palette of pinks, greens, yellows, and oranges is eye-catching and playful. The bold, swirling pattern enhances the vintage feel. The addition of beading in the dress gives it extra texture and realism. Those boots are made for dancing! The details are fabulous. A unique and nostalgic vibe.
