Continuity

Continuity, 33″ x 22″, #3- and 4-cut wool on linen. Designed by Pearl K. McGown and hooked by Judith C. Vegso, Scottsdale, Arizona, 2024.

This rug was started in a class at Maryland Shores with Nancy Blood. She said I challenged her with my color choices! The background of this rug became a challenge, but I love how it turned out. I had been looking for a chance to hook a patterned background for some time and felt this rug had great potential. With two separate background areas, this piece presented the challenge of repeating the pattern in the small area on the outside edge. After completing it, I feel it was worth the extra effort. The rug is finished with a double-fold wool binding.

From the Judges:

Vibrant colors are well distributed and visually pleasing. Background detail draws the viewer to take a closer look. Overall, well planned. It is a timeless floral design.
