Maureen McIlwain is a writer and traditional rug hooker, enjoying working with wool fabric and yarn to create expressions of life in all its many moods. Maureen’s work is mainly original designs with a healthy dash of whimsy. She trained in Fashion Design & Construction at Ryerson in Toronto and has worked with fibers of all sorts since childhood: sewing, knitting, dressmaking, and quilting. Maureen lives in Ontario, after two decades in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, where rug hooking flourishes. She has taught sewing and beginners’ rug hooking classes and belongs to OHCG, RHGNS, and ATHA.
